I am performing calculations for ballistic transport as reported in the manual: https://www.openmx-square.org/openmx_man3.8/node122.html
which, if I understand correctly, does not directly apply the Green's function but rather obtains the Transmission function from the Hamiltonian matrix. This could be seen as the 'counting bands' method from the band structure to construct the Transmission function.
Consequently, can I ask what would be the difference between the Transmission function obtained with this technique and a Density of States calculation of a periodic system?
